TCC student Karey Cone was featured during the Student Spotlight segment at the TCC District Board of Trustees meeting on Oct. 14. During the segment, Karey took the time to introduce herself. Before coming to TCC, Karey taught herself math, history and sciences through Khan Academy, going on to earn her GED. Her hard work and determination paid off, as she went on to earn all A's in College Algebra, Pre-Calculus and Calculus courses. She currently holds a 4.0 GPA and is in the Honors Program. Between her classes and staying on top of her grades, Karey is also involved in multiple TCC groups such as the STEM program, Phi Theta Kappa, and Math Champions. "Thanks to these programs at TCC, I have gained valuable knowledge, scholarships, connections, and leadership skills," said Karey. Using her experiences, Karey also tutors at TCC's Learning Commons. "I like using [my story] to encourage other students that if I can do it, you can too," said Karey. After graduation, she is transferring to FSU in Fall 2020.

TCC student Ian Carter has been named the Clark Maxwell Scholar Student of the Month for October. Ian was recognized during the DBOT meeting last month by TCC Foundation Executive Director Heather Mitchell.
