TCC Student-Athletes Named to 2021-22 NJCAA All-Academic Team

Seventeen Tallahassee Community College student-athletes were named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Academic Teams for the 2021-2022 academic school year. Student-athletes are eligible to earn academic honors by achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2020-21 academic year. Student-athletes must achieve a 3.60-3.79 GPA for the 2021/2022 school year to be named to the NJCAA All-Academic Third Team. Student-athletes with a 3.80-3.99 GPA are named to the Second Team, and student-athletes with a 4.00 GPA are named to the First Team.

51 TCC student-athletes earn 3.0+ GPA during fall semester

During the recently completed fall semester, 51 of Tallahassee Community College's student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Among the 51 student-athletes earning at least a 3.0 GPA, 11 posted a 4.0 GPA, and of those, eight were named to the President's List. Two others earned Presidential Merit Recognition for their success in developmental courses. Fourteen student-athletes posted a GPA between 3.50 and 3.99 and were named to the Dean's List. Women's cross country claimed team-high honors with a 3.35 GPA followed by softball (3.22 GPA). The following student-athletes were named to the President's List (4.0 GPA): Olivia Eller, women's basketball; Emily Oakes, softball; Genevieve Printiss, women's cross country; Chris Satcher, baseball; Esmee Toet, softball; Caleb Vincent, baseball; Maddy Walther, softball; Kendall Ward, women's cross country. The following student-athletes were named to the Dean's List (3.5-3.99 GPA): Rodolph Adonis, men's cross country; Casey Erb, softball; Dylan Faulkner, baseball; Jordan Guest, men's basketball; Eric Hester, men's basketball; Katelyn Hobbs, softball; Stacey Hudson, softball; Kyla Jackson, softball; Arionne McCall, women's cross country; Ana Nikulochkina, women's basketball; Polina Nikulochkina, women's basketball; Daniel Randolph, men's cross country; Zane Stephens, baseball; Mia Wiederkehr, women's outdoor track. The following student-athletes were named to the Honor's List (3.0-3.49 GPA): Matt Boynton, baseball; Daisha Bradford, women's basketball; Dyamond Brown, softball; Heratio Carr, men's basketball; Jade Castillo, softball; Briana Chambers, women's basketball; Asia Charlton, women's cross country; Aiden Driscoll-Sadusky, baseball; Austin Erbaio, men's cross country; Joshua Gray, baseball; Andrew Fernandez, baseball; Emma Fowler, softball; Rushell Jacob, women's basketball; Tanner Martin, baseball; Rifen Miguel, men's basketball; Keyshawn Nelson, men's cross country; C.J. Rose, baseball; Andrice Sewell, women's cross country; Tariq Silver, men's basketball; Kailex Stephens, men's basketball; Kassie Weldon, softball. The following student-athletes received Presidential Merit Recognition (students who are fulfilling developmental course requirements and complete a minimum of six hours with a 4.0 GPA): Matthew Cooper, baseball; Jania Davis, softball. The following student-athletes received Merit Recognition (students who are fulfilling developmental course requirements and complete a minimum of six hours with a 3.0-3.99 GPA): El Ellis, men's basketball; Spencer Hanson, baseball; Rita James, women's basketball; Daivon Stephens, men's basketball.

TCC student athletes earn FCSAA, PC all-academic honors

Tallahassee Community College's academic all-stars have been recognized by both the Florida College System Activities Association and Panhandle Conference. Thirty-one student-athletes made the FCSAA's All-Academic Team for attaining a 3.30 GPA or above while 44 earned Panhandle Conference honors for maintaining a 3.0 GPA or above. Included were a trio of participants who were recognized in two sports - Gannon Hundley, Genevieve Printiss and Mia Wiederkehr, all members of the Eagles' cross country and track teams.

Olivia Russell named All-PC

Tallahassee Community College's Olivia Russell has been named Second-team All-Panhandle Conference by the league's softball coaches. Russell, a Tallahassee native and former standout at Florida High, led the Eagles with a .348 batting average and 27 RBI while finishing second on the team with five home runs during the recently completed 2019 season. This is Russell's second All-PC honor - she was a first-team selection as a freshman in 2018.

Aliyah Lawson named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar

Tallahassee Community College women's basketball student-athlete Aliyah Lawson has been named an Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar. The annual Ashe Awards were announced on Thursday by Diverse: Issues In Higher Educationand recognizes outstanding minority young men and women who have distinguished themselves in the pursuit of excellence, both academically and athletically. Lawson was named to the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar First-team. A native of Whitby, ONT, Canada, Lawson has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA through three semesters at TCC. Athletically, she was a redshirt freshman in 2018-19 after sitting out all of 2017-18 to rehab an injury. As the team's starting point guard, Lawson helped the Eagles to a record of 25-5 and a No. 6 national ranking in 2018-19. She played in 25 games and averaged 5.4 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Though she was unable to participate on the floor in 2017-18, she remained an active member of the team as the Eagles captured their first national championship, attending each practice, game and workout. Further demonstrating her commitment to the team and TCC's athletic department, she served as the official scorer for all home basketball games. Despite a demanding schedule as a student-athlete, Lawson has actively participated in numerous community service activities such as Black Male Achievers Protect Your Shield event, Domestic Violence March to End the Silence, Leon County Children's Business Fair, feeding local veterans at the Veterans Village, Get In the Game, Inc., and basketball clinics for kids and Hoops U basketball clinic. In addition to their athletic ability, the students named 2019 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars have maintained a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5, are at least a sophomore academically, and have been active on their campuses or in their communities. Close to 1,000 scholar athletes nationwide were recognized this year.
